Module 4: Assignment 5

Module 4: Assignment 5

Creating A Story and Movie

In this assignment, we were instructed to create a movie and tell a story by: '

importing graphics (photos or graphics edited in fireworks), "speaking" with the use of text, importing sounds/music ( mp3 or wav) to a timeline, and drawing with the pen and paint brush tool

I chose to parody the rise and fall of alleged gangster John Gotti through a small video highlighting his birth, move to New York, his alleged mafia powerplay, his criminal trials and subsequent incarceration to his death and burial.

Company Ads

In this assignment, we were instructed to design tower and banner ads for fictitious clients using Flash. (Note: because of computer issues and the expiration of my Flash software, I used the .Gif creator software instead)

"The First Draft"

I enjoyed researching and writing this assignment very much and I believe that my findings support that the internet offers a great deal of benefit to the entertainment industry as well as the consumers. I searched a great deal and came up with a lot of great information, and a lot of conflicting viewpoints and erroneous logic as well. My essay had to actually be shortened to focus solely on the music industry, though I intended to evaluate the internet's effect on television and movies as well. Much of the findings in the music industry can be applied to the other forms of entertainment industries as well. The increase in technology brings about a great deal of change that may be difficult to grasp at first, but eventually pays more dividends in the future.

Module 4: Assignment 2

Module 4: Assignment 2 For this assignment, we were instructed to use Windows Movie Maker software to create a short movie using transition and video effects applied to imported images from previous assignments. This .wmv utilizes the initial photos used for my first assignment in this class.

Module 4: Assignment 1

Assignment 1

For this assignment, the class was instructed to experiment a bit with the new
animation software.

Using Adobe Flash, I created the following short animation. I'm just beginning
to familiarize myself with the tools, but I thought this was a neat little
animation. I had a larger idea for this short, but will be revisiting that in
later assignments.  I used the GIF construction set program to
convert the original .avi to a .gif.

The second part of the assignment was to create a banner advertisement.
I used the smallest setting of 120 x 60 to create the following clickable
banner ad.

Here is a print screen of my work in the .Gif construction wizard.

Module 3: Assignment 3

Module 3: Assignment 3

Client 1: Century 22.com

I have designed a website for the online realty company Century22.com. Using the FireWorks program, I used the various drawing and image editing tools to create the following webpage. The website is sleek, appealing, modern, and easy to use. All of the required links are prominent, and the images really capture the future of the real estate world.

I have also designed a website for the online pet supply company PETZ.COM. The site is a very clean and simple design with all of the required company links on the left and links to the individual pet pages on the right.

The photos used to create the PETZ.COM project can be found at the following links.

In addition to the website homepage design, I have also designed a t-shirt for Petz.com. The shirt exhibits all of the key animals that the website services, and is an attractive piece of wearable advertising.

Module 3: Assignment 2

Module 3: Assignment 2: Montage

mon·tage (mn-täzh, mô-)

n.

  • A single pictorial composition made by juxtaposing or superimposing many pictures or designs.

The theme of this montage is "your personal statement on a subject". Therefore you are to incorporate real, surreal and/or fantastic elements in this assignment

The personal statement I chose to make with my montage is a parody of the corporatization of America. I chose to use the color green again as a symbol of money. In this case, the entire world is "seeing the world in terms of money." Note the advertising that preverts the cityscape and the message on the back of the nomad's shirt. The images used to create this montage can all be found here: http://picasaweb.google.com/EricScalice/UntitledAlbum06

Module 3: Assignment 1

Module 3: Assignment 1

For this assignment, the class was instructed to colorize 2 seperate images. The first, a black an white sketch or drawing; and the second, a photograph.

For the colorization of the black and white sketch, I used a combination of selection tools, different vector path drawing tools, and an assortment of colors for shading the new colorized drawing. The original image was a sketch of an older gentleman sitting at a piano. I decided to change the concept to reflect a young person with vivid colors sitting at the same piano to convey the idea that modern youth can still have an appreciation and love of music akin to the older generation.

For the second part of the assignment, I found a photo of a trinquet that resembles the image on the back of the U.S. one dollar bill. Utilizing the selection and fill tools, I adapted the image with green hues to create the paralell with currency. I left the gold center of the image untouched, and used the vector pen tool to clean up the edges of the filled portions a bit. I added "$" symbols in a clock-type motif to symbloize the world's constant attraction to money.

Module 2: Assignment 7

New Look...New Feel...To celebrate, I have even added a new theme song to the player near the bottom of the page. It should be playing right now, so kick on your speakers and enjoy. Feel free to scroll through and listen to all of my work on there.

Module 2: Assignment 6

In this assignment, the students were instructed to utilize the FireWorks vector drawing and shape tools to create a black and white comic strip or cartoon. Though my artistic talents are usually relegated to the auditory arts, the comic below actually came out better than I thought it would. The premise for the comic may need explaining though, I'm no Gary Larsen. The comic depicts a puzzled and confused office worker waking up in his office to his boss with an alarm clock telling him he is late.

Assignment 5

Assignment #5 for the FireWorks image editing application involves using the previously learned talents of the program to create a collage. Using a black canvas and the images located at the following links, I was able to create an homage to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in celebration of their pursuit of another World Series ring.

I decided to go with an "antiquing" type feel with this piece, making the ballpark and other images dark and almost ghostly ala "Field Of Dreams."

Mod. 2: Assignment 4

Mod 2: Assignment 4

In this exercise we were instructed to create a map to a destination we would like to go to based on a mapquest image. The location I chose to use was the Orange Bowl, a stadium in Miami, Fl that hosts the resurgent Miami Hurricanes NCAA football program. This is the last year the team will play at this location, moving to a new facility next year. The orginal map can be located here: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=internal&addtohistory=&latitude=uYll9c%2bA%2biKNb2UOVpEqUA%3d%3d&longitude=rjVDKAlQ3vicDxLphKFaeg%3d%3d&name=Miami%20Orange%20Bowl%20Stadium&country=US&address=1501%20NW%203rd%20St&city=Miami&state=FL&zipcode=33125&phone=305%2d643%2d7100&spurl=0&&q=orange%20bowl&qc=Stadiums%20Arenas%20%26%20Athletic%20Fields#east

The .gif image below is the map that I rendered (although not well) noting the location in the center in green. The green/orange "U" above the location is the logo of the Hurricanes. The red ellipse denotes the entrance to the facility. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Module 2: Assignment 3

This assignment was designed to familiarize students with the vector drawing tools of the FireWorks image editing software. Using the crop, text, and polygon tools-I have altered the original sunflower image to include some vector additions. Because the JPEG file is a smaller file size than the GIF, and can be downloaded faster, I have posted the following example as a JPEG. (JPEG file size: 18.35k 2 sec. @ 54kbps) (GIF file size: 29.44k 4 sec. @ 56kbps)

The Man, The Myth, The Legend...

I am nearing completion of my Small Business Management degree here at HCCC. Hopefully upon graduation I will be able to pursue my bachelor's degree at another tech school. I am an absolute sports fanatic. I also enjoy writing, producing, and listening to music in my spare time. My ultimate career goal is to develop a software program that I have been working on independently and start my own business. http://livesports.podcastpeople.com/
